Physical Education

Physical education is an organized instructional period for physical development and coordination for all students from Pre-kindergarten through grade six. Children begin class with a warm up exercise before the lesson of the week is introduced.  The curriculum includes hand-eye coordination, large body movement, body awareness, spacial awareness, fittness training, and social skills.  Group sports are taught along with rules for each game.  Children are taught sportsmanship and the value of team work as well as being a team-player. Safety is always an important factor in all activities. Various pieces of equipment are introduced throughout the program.

Fifth and sixth graders are required to participate in "running club" once a week.  Each student is offered the choice of running, walking or middle club.  In the middle club the students alternate between walking and running.
