Welcome to Preschool

Welcome one and all to Ms. Donna’s Preschool class! I have a lot of fun as well as educational activities planned for us over the upcoming year. We will start off with an apple picking trip to Elwood Orchards located in Londonderry, N.H. We will go on a hayride where we’ll see a corn maze, a pumpkin patch as well as lots & lots of delicious apples! Then we will be ready to each pick our own bag of apples. When we are finished we will have a “picnic” snack and listen to an apple story. In order for us to have a safe trip, I will need at least 4 chaperones/drivers from each group. There will be a permission form to fill out as well as a sign up sheet for you to volunteer. If you are unable to attend, please send your child with his/her car seat, signed permission form and snack. The trips are planned for the Mon/We/Fri. group on Monday, September 20th and for the Tues/Thurs. group on Tuesday, September 21st.  We will be leaving promptly from school at 8:30 a.m. and will return by 10:45. Please dress your child comfortably and wearing sneakers is a good idea.

We will have an open house/orientation on Wednesday, September 15th at 7:00 p.m. This is very important for you to attend (especially new families) as we will go over the school /classroom policies. This is an adult only evening so if only one parent can attend that would be fine. There will be sign up sheets for room parents, classroom volunteers etc. available that evening as well.

I would ask that everyone faithfully checks the Mt. St. Mary web page. We are a paperless (green) school so any communications will be sent via this web page. I will post monthly calendars, reminders, songs/poems the children will be practicing as well as any other information you will need. I will also have recent news on the bulletin board outside our classroom and a sign up notebook will be there as well.

I would like to ask you all to send in a family photo (one that can be glued!) with your child on the first few days of school. We will be coloring a picture of each child’s house and will then glue on their family photo. They will be displayed in our classroom in case anyone needs a little reassurance.   :-)
It’s always very comforting to see a photo from home and to see a familiar face.

Please send in a small, (healthy) easy to handle snack with your child. It becomes quite taxing for them if they have too many choices to make. Remember to label any/all belongings. You’d be surprised at how many duplicate items of clothing, lunch bags etc. we have. Please dress your child in clothes that are easy to pull up and down when using the bathroom. We also do a lot of painting so bear this in mind when your child wants to get all “gussied up!” I will try to post a *”messy project” warning on the classroom calendar when we make something really messy, but painting is a part of our daily activities.

I look forward to a fun filled year of learning, playing and watching these little sprouts grow. Thank you for entrusting me with the care of your precious child,

                                               Ms. Donna
