Notice to Parents of students in grades K through 6
Starting on October 5 students at our school in grades kindergarten through six will take tests called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). The date and time schedule is at the end of this notice. We administer the MAP tests to determine the child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year as well as from year to year. All tests are administered using a computer. The subjects tested are Reading and Math for all students from Kindergarten through grade 6 as well as Language Arts and Science for students in grades two through six.
MAP tests are unique in that they adapt to the appropriate child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. With MAP tests, we can administer shorter tests and use less class time while still receiving detailed, accurate information about your child’s growth. Between October 5 and October 21 students in grades 2 through 6 will spend a total of about four hours for these tests while students in grades K and 1 will spend about two hours.
For more information on resources for parents, access the Parent Toolkit by going to www.nwea.org, use the search box, type in Parent Toolkit and then follow the links.
Scheduled test day by grade level. All tests are in the morning.
